EL ALAMEIN, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Al Dahra Agriculture Trading and Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities have put into effect a five-year agreement to supply wheat valued at up to US$500 million. This deal transitions Egypt’s 2023 financing framework into an operational import arrangement. Through this agreement, Al Dahra will provide imported wheat to GASC, financed by the Abu Dhabi Exports Office. It outlines the procedures for purchases within that pre-existing program.

The contract was signed at Egypt’s Cabinet of Ministers headquarters in El Alamein on Aug. 26, 2026, with Egypt’s Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk, who also presides over GASC, present at the signing. Khadim Abdullah Al Darei, co-founder and managing director of Al Dahra, was also in attendance. The statement did not specify wheat quantities, shipment schedules, origins, or the pricing structure for purchases under this agreement.
The financial arrangement originates from August 2023 when ADEX and Egyptian authorities established a revolving wheat import program. ADEX allocated US$100 million to this initiative, with annual renewals over five years, reaching a potential total of US$500 million. Egypt’s ministries of international cooperation and finance participated in this initial setup alongside GASC. The 2026 supply contract now provides the operational basis for GASC’s purchases from Al Dahra as part of this financing scheme.
Implementation of the 2023 financing scheme
ADEX functions as the export-financing division of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, offering funding linked to acquisitions from Emirati exporters. In 2023, the office announced that its Egypt facility would finance wheat and other essential commodities supplied via Al Dahra. This financing setup established a five-year framework for those transactions with GASC. The recent agreement continues this structure, setting the operational terms for Al Dahra’s imported wheat deliveries.
Since 2007, Al Dahra has maintained operations in Egypt, managing farms in Toshka and East Oweinat. As of 2023, the company reported farming approximately 28,000 hectares in the country, with over 180,000 tons of wheat supplied to the Egyptian government over the previous three years. Recently, Al Dahra stated that its broader agricultural network now serves more than 40 markets globally.
Al Dahra’s presence in Egypt dates back to 2007
The agreement made in August 2026 pertains to imported wheat, but Al Dahra also produces various agricultural commodities domestically. In 2023, it identified itself as Egypt’s largest private-sector producer of wheat and corn. Approximately 85% of its Egyptian farm output was marketed locally at that time. The new accord involves imported wheat supplied to GASC through the ADEX program, not a separate US$500 million financing package.
This five-year agreement enacts the financing framework introduced three years earlier, replacing the need for a second US$500 million facility. Neither Al Dahra nor GASC have disclosed the total wheat tonnage covered, nor have they published details on shipment schedules, supplier origins, or the pricing formula. As of Aug. 27, 2026, the current arrangement remains a five-year wheat supply plan valued at up to US$500 million under ADEX financing.
